Ossett & District Camera Club Welcomes You

I am proud to be elected as President of the camera club in what will be our 70 anniversary year (2024/25). Following the difficult period of Covid the club over the past two years has been through a period of transformation. The club has has grown in strength and is once again providing an interesting and wide ranging programme of events.
 

Membership has diversified and is currently standing at 35 plus with ages ranging from 14 to 80 years old. Competition entries have risen for the first time in a number years and resulting in a larger spread of winners as well. Practical training and guest speakers have been enhanced and we have established a summer programme of events for the first time.
 

As incoming president I wish to thank our outgoing president, Chris Booth for his leadership and commitment during this transformation. My intention is to continue with this development . My emphasis will be on member recruitment, beginner training, building on and improving the programme, connecting with community groups and ensuring the management of the club is on a stable and professional footing.

I will be organising and establishing our first annual photographic exhibition for the first time and providing a series of photographic services for local community groups.
 

The hard work of the committee has also been exceptional in the clubs refresh and I anticipate that their input and commitment will continue under my presidency.
 

Founded in 1955 the club has a long, strong and respected presence within the Yorkshire photography scene yet I want to spread the pleasures that photography offers to the wider local community. I want us to engage with young people and the older generation. Members take the art of photography very seriously but we always operate in a fun and friendly way.
 

So for anyone looking to start their photography journey, those wishing to move from using a mobile phone to a camera, and those just wanting to improve and share their photography, I invite them come along to one of our club nights or events. All will be made very welcome and you will meet a great group of people.
